VRE Chromogenic Agar is a selective and differential medium designed for the rapid isolation and presumptive identification of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) from clinical specimens.
The medium contains selective agents, including vancomycin, which inhibit the growth of vancomycin-sensitive organisms while allowing resistant Enterococcus species to grow. Chromogenic substrates react with specific bacterial enzymes, producing distinctively colored colonies that facilitate easy differentiation of VRE from other microorganisms.
