CRE Chromogenic Agar is a selective and differential medium designed for the rapid isolation and presumptive identification of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) from clinical specimens.
The medium contains selective agents, including carbapenem antibiotics, which inhibit the growth of susceptible bacteria while allowing carbapenem-resistant organisms to grow. Chromogenic substrates are incorporated to react with specific bacterial enzymes, producing distinct colored colonies that facilitate easy differentiation of CRE from other microorganisms.
