Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) Agar with 10% Sheep Blood, Chloramphenicol, and Gentamicin is a highly enriched medium recommended for the isolation and recovery of pathogenic fungi from clinical specimens that are heavily contaminated with bacteria and saprophytic fungi. The incorporation of antibiotics such as chloramphenicol and gentamicin effectively suppresses bacterial growth, while the enriched base with sheep blood supports the growth of fastidious fungal pathogens.
