MRSA Chromogenic Agar is a selective and differential medium designed for the rapid isolation and presumptive identification of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from clinical specimens.
The medium incorporates selective agents, including antibiotics, to inhibit the growth of non-resistant bacteria, while allowing the growth of MRSA strains. Chromogenic substrates are included, which react with specific enzymes produced by MRSA, resulting in the formation of distinctively colored colonies for easy identification.
